Architecture and Your Website no comments
When you walk past a really cool building you might comment on how neat it was and the design will stay with you likely for quite a while. People work hard to design a piece of architecture that will capture your eye and your imagination and stay with you for a long time to come.
It’s funny how someone will put lots of thought into how the building will look and then not even give a minutes worth of time to the design of the website. This is especially relevant since there are billions of potential folks looking at the web and only thousands that see the building. Go figure.
People that are busy trying to obtain their US Visas from the US Immigration department are usually wrapped up knee deep in the USCIS forms and they are so sick of paperwork that it is hard to get their attention. However they can be distracted when they are web surfing if they spot a website that catches their attention.
That is because a well designed website, like a well thought out building, will make people stop and take notice. Remember the last time that you drove through a boring neighborhood of cookie cutter homes and then there was one that was totally different and it caught your eye. That is what a web site needs to do.
You see it doesn’t matter if your surfer is an athlete looking for news on a game or if he is someone trying to become a citizen and going through US Immigration. They could be working hard filling in the USCIS forms for their US Visa or that athlete could be looking to find directions to the game. The point is that you need to make them stop and notice your place over someone else’s.
That is why businesses hire expensive design companies to build buildings and it is precisely why you need top get an experienced designer on your website. Because in today’s marketplace you have to compete against everyone for every penny and the first step is to get them to actually take notice that you are there. And that comes from a great web design.
People only have a very limited attention span because we have been conditioned by rapid fire onslaught of media. We have to be grabbed hard and quickly to get our attention and keep it. That is why design is so important.
So when you are setting things up on your website remember that no matter who you are trying to get you can’t win them as a customer unless they actually stop and visit. So remember your target audience. If it is the person after a US Visa and he is likely filling in a ton of USCIS forms to make it through the US Immigration system – colorful and simple might just be best. Just be sure you figure out your clients base demographics so that you can hit the mark and hit the home run.
